Man-Ray
These are a couple of examples of an artist called Man-Ray his worked that i will be focusing on is mainly solarised portraits where the light of a picture becomes dark and an outline is formed i find this very interesting and will be trying to do a couple of my own with portraits and body features eg hands.

Horst P Horst
Bill Beckley
This artist is completely different to the other to this is because this artist Bill Beckley has decided to use nature for outline although his two example look like they have been moving while we taking the picture. Although another perspective is that he had painted them and smudged the images to create a weird outline.

Kristian Goddard
These are from another artist and i picked these 3 out all of her images because i really like the colours and how the outlines are either glowed or presented as a shadow and really eye catching although the middle one I found very interesting this is because it has a person but the outlines are mostly focused behind him looking like your walking through a box.

How to do solarisation in photoshop
This is a set by step image set in order of what to do first and the outcome at the end i had done this so that if anyone looks on my website and wants to find out how to do solerisation, they have a guide on how to do it the correct way by using a laptop and not having to use chemicals if you don't want to. It also allows me to show what I know also incase I want to come back to this subject in the future I have a reminder on how to do it step by step.

Darkroom
These sort of worked because my theme is outline and in the first picture even though it is very dark we could see that behind the head there was a outline being formed when the picture was inside the chemicals. Although, the second one didn't work as well because it had formed misty or dirt lines across the image but it looks quite cool and works with the picture. If i could improve these pictures I would have made sure i take it out of the chemicals before it goes completely dark so that I can still see the light in the images.
Oringinal Set 4
Negative Images
I have turned this pictures into black and white then I inverted them, this is to in order that my pictures become successful when i solerise them in the dark room with the chemicals. This makes it easier to see the picture develop and bring out the dark areas and light areas more which is also easier for me to do different contrasts with these images.
Collage
I chose to do these set of pictures because for my final piece I want to work towards still doing solerisation but using this technique to do different types of contrasts with different sets of pictures. Then by the end of it i want to have many different contrasts as I can then I can put the images together on a board as a collage.
These pictures I will be using for my final piece with loads of different colours of different images. This gallery worked well because it has filled in the colours where the dark textures where it also bring out the picture a lot more. This is another piece I want to do but with loads of different colours and shades of colurs then also put them into a collage of different images
More examples:
I took theses images to ensure I could create a big image using these images once i have used the threshold technique on them.

Another Set Of Images
These were my last set of images this is because I was playing around with the visual idea of flat and 3d objects to create an abstract image which combined really well. The reasons I choose this was because of the confusion of layers and outlines.
Final Evaluation
The theme I have chosen is outline this is because I knew it was the best to suit my creativity in photography. The artists I have researched is; Man-Ray who is known for his solerisation , Horst P Horst who does silhouette portraits , Billy Beckley who's pictures looked as if they had done paintings of plant then smudged the image. Whilst studying the work I have noticed they are all similar not only for the fact their images have outlines but Man-Ray and Horst also have the same sort of contrasts.
My first thought about my theme outlines I thought it was easy but really it was more difficult to really express the concept so that it was noticeable but also abstract. In the end I found it really difficult but i did more thinking and finally come out with a couple sets of related images which work.
Whilst doing my project i have experimented with many things such as using the camera to collect my photos then using photoshop to edit my images either into solerisated images or negative and even inverted images and using the paint tool in photoshop to highlight specific areas which I then want that colour to be, not to mention i used a dark room to also solerise my images. I did this because the was easier for me to express my ideas of outlines in a way I could control the contrasts and colours in photoshop although the dark room was a bit harder to get a different set of contrast.
Each time i refined my work I made sure that i had another set of ideas before i scrapped the idea although the things that didn't work as well i made sure i still posted to show why it didn't work and how I could improve that idea.
Most of my ideas worked well especially the solerisation images and the inverted images this was because I had more ideas planned for this idea although, I used a set of solerisation images from the dark room in my final piece which sort of had contrast but it worked well.
My last set of images I was playing around with the visual appearance of flat cut out images laid under the actual 3d bottles in different compositions in order to create an abstract image.
